Kingwood Medical Center Infrastructure Upgrades
Project Overview
Gant Industries partnered with HCA Healthcare and Gresham Smith to execute a large-scale renovation and expansion project. The scope of work included the ground-up construction of a new central plant, as well as significant renovations to key areas of the hospital, including operating rooms and other critical spaces. This project was designed to modernize the hospital’s infrastructure, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the quality of care delivered to patients.
Scope of Work
The project involved the construction of a new central plant to provide the hospital with improved power, heating, and cooling systems necessary for its round-the-clock operations. Additionally, extensive renovations were carried out in the operating rooms and other vital areas of the hospital. These updates were essential to ensure that the hospital met modern healthcare standards and could accommodate new technologies and equipment.

Meeting the Challenges of Healthcare Construction
Healthcare facilities present unique construction challenges, including the need to maintain a sterile environment and minimize disruptions to patient care. Gant Industries worked closely with HCA Healthcare to ensure that construction activities were carefully coordinated to avoid interference with daily hospital operations. Phased construction techniques were used to renovate operating rooms and other critical areas without impacting hospital services.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety Standards
The healthcare industry requires strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards, and Gant Industries ensured full compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, including infection control measures and OSHA safety protocols. This attention to detail ensured that both the construction workers and hospital staff operated in a safe environment throughout the duration of the project.
Results and Impact
The completion of the central plant addition and hospital renovations provided HCA Healthcare with modern, energy-efficient infrastructure and updated patient care areas. The new central plant supports the hospital’s operational needs, ensuring reliable power and climate control for critical areas like the operating rooms.
