GANT Industries was entrusted with the comprehensive buildout of an 88,000-square-foot state-of-the-art pharmaceutical compounding facility for Empower Pharmacy. This large-scale project involved complex design and construction requirements to meet the stringent regulations and operational needs of the pharmaceutical industry. The buildout provided Empower Pharmacy with the infrastructure necessary to support high-volume compounding operations, ensuring safety, precision, and compliance with industry standards.

Scope of Work

The focus was on optimizing the facility’s layout for maximum efficiency and compliance, incorporating advanced cleanrooms, specialized compounding laboratories, and high-tech HVAC and filtration systems to maintain sterile conditions. The project also included the installation of cutting-edge equipment to support both sterile and non-sterile compounding processes.​

Meeting Industry Standards and Regulatory Requirements

Given the nature of pharmaceutical compounding, the facility had to comply with stringent FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and various state and local safety standards. GANT Industries worked tirelessly to ensure that all aspects of the buildout—from specialized filtration systems to sterile work environments—were designed and constructed to meet these regulations. Our team also worked closely with Empower Pharmacy to integrate the latest in compounding technology, ensuring the facility was equipped for modern pharmaceutical production.

Challenges and Solutions

Given the nature of pharmaceutical compounding, the facility was designed and constructed to comply with stringent industry standards and regulatory requirements. This included adherence to USP <797> and <800> guidelines for sterile and hazardous drug compounding, as well as state and federal regulations governing pharmaceutical manufacturing. The facility’s design incorporated advanced environmental controls, including HEPA filtration, clean steam generation, and purified water systems, to maintain the necessary sterile conditions.​
